Pinar Demircan is a Ph.D. researcher at the Mimar Sinan University Department of Sociology. Her research focuses on antinuclear movements within risk society.

Having an interest in environmental justice, risk sociology, and environmental movements, Pinar is also a journalist and a grassroots environmental activist.Utilizing her Japanese, her published works include research and interviews on Post Fukushima since she had the opportunity to participate in four site visits with Japanese NGOs. In 2018, she received support from the Takagi Foundation in Japan to conduct research projects in Fukushima and Tokyo. As a member of local and global antinuclear networks, she presents papers and speeches on broadcasting programs, as well as public and academic conferences.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Istanbul University and Master’s degree from Marmara University. Previously she worked professionally in human resources management, quality management, risk management and corporate governance fields at Japanese firms.
