Ian Rowen is an associate professor at National Taiwan Normal University. A human geographer and former Fulbright Scholar, he writes about regional politics, social movements, and tourism for the Annals of the American Association of Geographers, The Journal of Asian Studies, Annals of Tourism Research, Asian Anthropology, Journal of Archaeology and Anthropology, the BBC, and The Guardian, among others. A new piece on Taiwan’s first Truth and Reconciliation Committee is forthcoming in the International Journal of Transitional Justice. His research and quotes have appeared in the New York Times, The Guardian, Japan Times, and other outlets. Ian holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Colorado, and his research has been supported by agencies including the US National Science Foundation, the Fulbright Program, and the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.
