Gillian Koh is Deputy Director (Research) and Head of the Politics and Governance Cluster at the Institute of Policy Studies. Her areas of research and published work are on electoral politics, state-society relations and the development of civil society in Singapore, and include Civil Society and the State in Singapore, and “The Future of Singapore’s Civil Society” (co-author Debbie Soon). She received her Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore and her Master of Arts and PhD in Sociological Studies from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. She has been at the Institute since 1996.
