astrid2Astrid Norén-Nilsson is an Associate Senior Lecturer in the Study of Modern South-East Asia at the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies, Lund University, Sweden. She is the author of Cambodia’s Second Kingdom: Nation, Imagination, and Democracy (Cornell SEAP, 2016) and has published extensively in a variety of journals, including Pacific Affairs, Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, SOJOURN: Journal of Social Issues in Southeast Asia, Jane’s Intelligence Review and Peace Review: A Journal of Social Justice. She is also a political and security analyst for various international concerns. She holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies (2013) and an MPhil in Development Studies (2008), both from the University of Cambridge, and was previously a research fellow (2013-15) for the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV), Leiden, The Netherlands.
